Teen Shoots Dead 73-year-old Grandfather inside Orange County Home

Orange County deputies have arrested a teen who they say shot and killed his grandfather in his home near Mount Dora on Thursday.

Oakley Miller, 19, was taken into custody on Friday and charged with first degree murder.

Investigators say, Miller killed his grandfather, 73-year-old Donald Gonnelly in his home located at 4115 Frances Ann Court.

According to Miller’s arrest report, he initially told investigators that he left the home earlier and returned later in the evening with a neighbor to find the garage door open and the house ransacked. He also said that a few electronic items were missing.

Deputies found Gonnelly on the couch in the living area with multiple gunshot wounds to the head and face, according to arrest report.

Law enforcement officers are not discussing a motive for the murder at this time, but would only say, the investigation is on going.

Miller was booked into the Orange County Jail around 7:45 a.m. on Friday. He is being held without bond.
