Independent voters in Florida are leaning toward Democrat Charlie Crist giving him a lead of 43 percent over Republican Gov. Rick Scott’s 40 percent, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday.
Libertarian candidate Adrian Wyllie received 8 percent support, with 9 percent of voters undecided.
A similar poll conducted on October 22, showed Scott and Crist tied 42 – 42 percent, with Wyllie at 7 percent.
Independent voters go to Crist over Scott 47 – 29 percent, with 16 percent for Wyllie, the poll showed.
Among those who already voted, Crist gets 40 percent to Scott’s 39 percent.
The poll was conducted October 22-27, among 817 likely voters and has a margin of error of +/- 3.4 percentage points.
