Update: Police Identify Orlando’s Double Homicide Victims

UPDATE

The Orlando Police Department has identified the victims of the double homicide that took place two days ago at 533 W. Anderson.  They are, Valerie Young, 44 years, and Alton L. Palmer, 49.  The couple were boyfriend and girlfriend and detectives do not know why they were shot.

The City of Orlando recorded its 17th homicide with the deaths of two persons early this morning.

At approximately 12:18 a.m. Orlando Police Department officers working in the area of 533 W. Anderson head shots fired.   Upon responding to the area, they located two people, a man and a woman in their 40’s laying on the ground.  Both victims appeared to have been shot and were already dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, other responding officers stopped a vehicle on Terry Avenue they though was suspicious and detained the occupants.    The persons detained are persons of interest at this time.   No motive for the killings have yet been determined.

With these two murders, the homicide count to date in the City of Orlando is 17.   This compares with 36 homicides that already had taken place in 2008.
