An Orange County home owner, on Tuesday evening shot and killed a burglar in his home, and injured another.

At approximately 10:40 PM, October 13, 2009, the Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call from a man who reported that he arrived at his residence at 6732 Rubens Ct. and realized it was being burglarized.

The homeowner armed himself with a handgun and approached the front door of the residence.  As he got to the front door a man opened it and immediately closed it.  The homeowner then remotely opened the door to
his garage after hearing movement inside the garage and saw two men run back into the home.  The homeowner entered the residence through the garage and, during a confrontation with the suspects, he fired his handgun, exited the home, and called the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded and, based on the information provided by the homeowner, believed at least one suspect was still inside the residence.  Deputies assembled an entry team and began a search of the residence.
Once inside they found the body of one man, believed to be one of the burglary suspects.

At about 10:44 PM, as the burglary/shooting was being investigated, the Sheriff’s Office received another 9-1-1 call advising that there was a young male with a gunshot wound in the driveway of a home at 6825
