OCPS Receives Over $100,000 From IBM

Orange County Public Schools is the proud recipient of a grant worth more than $100,000 from the IBM KidSmart Early Learning Program

The grant provides for 12 schools to receive 50 Young Explorerâ„¢ computers to be used by our prekindergarten students. Targeting schools with a Hispanic student population of more than 40 percent, the IBM KidSmart Program teaches children math, science and language concepts using computers housed in brightly-colored, child-friendly furniture.

Early childhood education sets the pace for students as they travel on their kindergarten through 12th-grade journey. Join us for this event as part of the OCPS celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month where you will learn more about how our youngest students can learn through this technology and why our target population is Hispanic students. Ventura Elementary school principal Lisa Suggs will be joined by District 3 Orange County Commissioner Mildred Fernandez and Ms. Deni Gorden, Senior Location Executive, IBM Orlando. Students are prepared to demonstrate their skills on the Young Explorerâ„¢ computers.
