U.S. Democratic Congressman, Alan Grayson, got a standing ovation on Saturday at the conclusion of his speech at the Florida Democratic Party annual Convention.
Addressing a crowd of some 2,000 people, Grayson suggested that the Republican Party should change its name to the “Selfish Party”, given that they oppose President Barack Obama on everything.
Grayson is riding a wave of popularity in the Democratic Party, after condemning Republicans in Congress ten days ago, for their refusal to work with Democrats to get a heath care bill that would benefit some 40 million uninsured Americans. He said that for Republicans their idea of health care is for sick people to “die quickly”.
Ignoring calls by Republican Congressmen that he apologize for these remarks, Grayson instead, apologized to the dead.
The Congressman will host a health care town hall meeting in Lake County on Monday night.
