The accident happened on State Road 417 near Curry Ford Road, around 7:30 pm, Florida Highway Patrol said.

Witnesses told troopers, an unknown driver of an SUV, heading north on State Road 417, changed from the right center lane and into the path of motorcycle rider, Jeanette Villegas, also going north State Road 417.  Villegas, who was behind the SUV, steered onto the shoulder to avoid crashing into it and struck a construction trailer.

Villegas, 29, of St. Cloud, who was ejected from her Suzuki, suffered serious injuries.

Jose Villegas Encarcion, 34, and Abel Hernandez, 43, both of Orlando, dropped their motorcycles to avoid hitting Villegas. The pair suffered minor injuries and like Villegas were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the SUV did not make contact with Villegas’ motorcycle and did not stay at the scene, troopers also said.

The crash remains under investigation.
