Voters in the city of Orlando District 5 will head to the polls again in early May, as no candidate in the three-way race secured more than 50 percent of the votes cast in Tuesday’s election.
According to Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office, Juan Lynum received 39.2 percent with 743 votes while Regina Hill got 37.3 percent with 706 votes.
Cynthia Harris, the third contender in the race, picked up 23.5 percent with 446 votes.
Lynum, son of long-serving Commissioner Daisy Lynum, who campaigned on ‘continuing his mother’s legacy of achievement’ but was rejected by 6 in 10 voters, will face off against Hill on May 6.
Voter turn-out in the district was particularly low at 9.3 percent; a mere 1,903 voters cast ballots out of slightly more than 20,000 registered voters.
I hear the Regina Hill campaign wants to change Orlando’s name from the “City Beautiful” to “City Gone to Crap” She still gets drunk and curses like a sailor. Orlando has lost it.
