A 2-year-old missing boy drowned in a pond at an apartment complex on Tuesday, Orange County deputies said.

Investigators arrived just before 1:00 p.m., to 5102 Cholla Way at the Emerald Villas Apartments off N. Pine Hills Road, where a neighbor and a worker at the apartment complex discovered the toddler in a nearby fenced-in pond.

The boy was given CPR by the pair and upon arrival, Orange County deputies took over.

The toddler was pronounced dead at Florida Hospital South.

Investigators have not released the name of the child, pending notification of next of kin.

Deputies are still trying to determine the sequence of events that led to the drowning.
