City to recognize Neighborhood Watch Block Captains

Neighborhood2Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, City Commissioners, and Orlando Police Chief Paul Rooney will recognize the commitment and dedication of the Neighborhood Watch Block Captains at the annual Neighborhood Watch Leader’s Forum.

This is the 29th year that Orlando has recognized the critical role citizens play in crime prevention. Currently, 959 block captains have partnered with the Orlando Police Department to help keep Orlando neighborhoods safe.

At the event, six Neighborhood Watch Block Captains, one from each City District, will be recognized as Block Captains of the Year. One Neighborhood Watch Group will also be honored as the Watch Group of the Year.

This year Orlando made history once again, placing 1st nationally, the second time since 2011. This achievement was made possible by the participation of more than 64,000 residents in this summer’s National Night Out event.
