Thousands of festival-goers – in state and out-of state – flocked to Eatonville on Saturday, to celebrate and honor that town’s most famous resident, novelist Zora Neale Hurston.
Now into its twenty-fifth year, the Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities featured a variety of art, craft, food and live entertainment, with R&B/soul favorites Maze with Frankie Beverly stealing the show, much to the delight of the crowd.
The Zora Neale Hurston Festival of the Arts will close on Sunday, February 2, with an “Inspirational Day” from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
With four novels and more than 50 publishes short stories, plays and essays, Hurston is considered one of the pre-eminent writers of twentieth-century African-American literature.
