State Rep. Steve Precourt (R-Orlando) has been selected to run the much troubled Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority.

In a 3 to 2 vote, Precourt, who doesn’t meet the board’s requirements for the job, as he has no experience running a highway operation, was given the nod by three board members, wftv.com reports.  The board members were: Noranne Downs, Scott Batterson and Marco Pena.

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and board chairman, Walter Ketcham voted for a former Expressway Authority employee, Jorge Figueredo, who has experience running the toll agency.  Both said, the agency’s credibility would be damaged and Precourt’s appointment smacks of political favoritism, orlandosentinel.com reported.

It’s a new year, but same old, same old.
