Casey in Limbo with Nanny Civil Suit

Circuit Court Judge, Jose R. Rodriguez took no decision today regarding whether Casey Anthony’s civil suit should be dismissed or deferred until after her criminal trial.

Anthony’s civil attorney, Johnathan Kasen argued before Judge Rodriquez that the defamation suit brought by Zenaida Gonzalez should be delayed until Anthony’s criminal case is completed.

Anthony who faces first degree murder charges in the death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee, is being sued by Zenaida Gonzalez.  She had said that Caylee was kidnapped by a nanny who had the name Zenaida Gonzalez.

Authorities tired to find the nanny with that name and could not.   They believe that the story was fabricated by Casey.

Gonzalez’ attorney, Keith Mitnik argued that a delay in his client’s case (Gonzalez) would be unfair.  “We’re talking about accusing somebody of child kidnapping and ultimately child murder,” Mitnik told the judge.

The judge said, “This is not an easy case.”  He would give his ruling in one month.

Meanwhile, another hearing is set for Wednesday, September 9th in the civil case.

Gonzalez’ attorney proposes to ask the judge to force George and Cindy Anthony, Casey’s parents, to answer particular questions which did had refused to answer in earlier depositions.

Casey Anthony is charged with first degree murder in the death of her daughter.  If convicted she could face the death penalty.
