ZORA! Festival: Celebrity Lineup announced for 25th Anniversary

MazegroupMusic, literature, theater, fashion and the visual arts come together for a nine day explosion of culture at the 25th annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival of Arts and Humanities. Eatonville and Orange County will come alive during the multi-disciplinary event also known as the ZORA! Festival, which runs from January 25 through February 2.

The Saturday concert at Center Stage returns to this year’s ZORA! Festival, with Maze Featuring Frankie coming to the stage at 3PM on February 1. Center Stage is part of the popular Outdoor Festival of the Arts which takes place on the last weekend of the ZORA! Festival.

Daily admission to the Outdoor Festival of the Arts will be $10 for adults, which allows entry to the concert of the day. Children aged 17 and under will be admitted for free. There will be limited reserved seating at Center Stage on both Saturday and Sunday, available only through advanced ticket purchase. The cost will be $25 per person for Saturday’s concert, and $20 per person on Sunday.

Art aficionados will be able to meet Art Masters and enjoy their work at the ZORA! Festival 2014. Poet and activist Amiri Baraka and award-winning Haitian American author Edwidge Danticat are scheduled to appear at the Festival. Actress Lynn Whitfield and Actor Avery Brooks will take the stage in a theatrical production directed by Elizabeth Van Dyke. An exhibition of a body of work by Houston-based artist Robert Pruitt, will open during the Festival. Fans will be able to meet the artist.

The HATitude Brunch Party, a festival favorite returns, as well as Education Day. At HATitude, attendees can expect fine food, fine fellowship and fine fashion as they model their hats, and become the stars of the event. Students at Education Day will participate in the ZORA Literacy Initiative and History programming by the Florida Historical Society, as well as a new STEM education initiative.
