Alex Sink to run for Bill Young’s Congressional Seat

alex-sink-300x297Florida’s former chief financial officer and Democratic gubernatorial nominee on Tuesday confirmed exclusively to the Tampa Bay Times that she is  jumping into the race to succeed late Republican U.S. Rep. C.W. Bill Young in a district covering much of Pinellas County.

Up until recently, it was rumored that Sink might run again against Gov. Rick Scott who is seeking re-election in 2014.

In 2010, Sink ran a dismal campaign, losing to Scott by a razor-thin margin of 48 percent to 49 percent.

Sink, 65, is looking for a  a Pinellas home and said she will move “imminently” into the district from her east Hillsborough home 45 minutes away, the Tampa Bay Times also reported.
