Acclaimed actor Charles S. Dutton will keynote the 2013 Annual Convening of the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition (FRRC) and PICO Florida, due to be held on August 16-17 at the Double Tree by Hilton at Sea World in Orlando.
The event will focus on advocacy for the restoration of voting rights for people with past felony convictions and will address recent legislative changes concerning voting practices and voter registration in Florida. FRRC members, Clergy and supporters and anyone interested in rights restoration and voting reform are invited to attend this event.
Attendees will also hear from key state officials and organizations, including a panel discussion lead by the Florida Parole Commission about current clemency policies and voting rights issues.
Additionally, the convening presents opportunities for attendees to forge alliances between statewide and national organizations that advocate for voting reform and help develop the road map to clemency reform for 2014 and beyond. Another goal of the convening is to develop strategies for outreach, education, and voter registration for people with newly restored voting rights.
