American media mogul and television host Oprah Winfrey says she was the subject of a racist encounter last month while shopping in Zurich, Switzerland.
Winfrey, who has a net worth of $2.7 billion, according to FORBES rich list, told the U.S. program “Entertainment Tonight” that a shop assistant refused to show her a handbag because it was “too expensive” for her.
The Swiss tourism office, offered an apology saying, “we are very sorry for what happened to her,” the AP reported.
