As Obama’s poll numbers continue to decline, the American public is angry and bitter. Finger pointing and yelling at town hall meetings are a sign that our country is reaching a boiling point. Obama’s campaign promise of hope is turning into an angry platform of fear for many in Middle America.
The psychologists teach that anger is a logical extension of fear, and is based on ignorance, and a lack of information. There is a growing anger focused on the government and the Obama administration, and everyone is suspicious whether they can change the direction of the economy. It now appears that the Obama administration is getting caught up in Washington politics.
At this point, there are two unpopular wars that we are fighting, and there is very little discussion on the amount of money we are spending to finance these wars on a monthly basis. The administration is giving very little information and no one is asking questions. There is a public discourse on an unpopular health care initiative and no one has any idea how we will pay for that legislation. Obama tends to rush through proposals with limited discussions and ineffective planning.
Since Americans are frustrated with an historic recession, and double-digit unemployment they are looking for solutions right now. Borrowing cash from other countries and creating a national debt that will impact future generations have many American furious. The Obama administration is on a crazy spending spree, and many folks think that this will put our economy and country at risk.
The take over of General Motors, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the stimulus spending, and the loans to the banks are adding 9 trillion to the national debt. The Obama administration is in a precarious position, because many of these problems were started before they were voted in, but now it is their problems. The citizens are tired of hearing excuses about the reasons their plans are not working and they are mad.
There appears to be a trend of 50 new hate militia groups, who are upset over the diversity in every aspect of our country. Many of these groups have a racist agenda that is filled with anger and they want a return back to the good ole days. They live in the past, and there is no telling what they will do to stop progress.
Because of the threats within and without, the Obama Homeland Security Department has announced that it would maintain Bush’s Patrotic Act. This is an anger point for many liberals because laptops and cell phones can be searched at anytime, of Americans returning from overseas, even without suspicion. Others believe that the government has the ability to spy on dissidents, and citizens, and hold people indefinitely without a charge or a trial.
Everywhere we turn as an American, there is fear, anger, and bitterness.
Everyone is mad about something, and the future appears to be uncertain and everyone is frustrated. The rich have lost millions in the stock market. The middle class is worried if they can keep their job and provide for their family. The poor are desperate and if they have to steal to eat, then only the strong survive.
Obama was well aware when he took the job that the challenges and problems in the country were of monumental proportions. He knew that his greatness would be measured by his ability to transform our country, society and world. At this point, his administration has hit bumps and impediments in the road, and they will have to make assessments on how they plan to get around these barriers.
It may be necessary for Obama to slow his roll and focus on achievable and sustainable goals. Sometimes the youth try to solve all their problems, at one time without taking chronically incremental steps. The first seven months of Obama’s administration was a wave of activity and motion, but the question is “are we better off?”
I would really like to think that things are getting better, but really, what has changed? I would like to think that more money and resources are coming into our community, but more people are angry and going broke. There are more people out of work and more businesses are closing up since the recession, and fear is taking over the country.
In order for Obama poll numbers to improve the citizens, have to feel that something good is starting to happen. If Obama is truly about change, he will bring the soldiers home and begin to solve the problems at home, before we can become world police officers. Obama has the opportunity to change our country if the citizens are involved and there is accountability and transparency in his administration and government.
If he truly believes his campaign promises, and they were not just words, Obama has the ability to transform America. If nothing changes and it is business as usual, the people will get madder and their anger will boil over.
