A Central Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for strangling his daughter’s girlfriend and hiding the body in the closet of an empty house.

Jerry Lee Seger, 43, of Lakeland, was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of Courtney Elizabeth Bright in April 2010, theledger.com reported.

Prosecutors argued that Seger was angry with Bright’s influence on his daughter and didn’t approve of their relationship and lifestyle of drugs, stealing and not having a stable place of abode, the paper also reported.  Bright, 24, was found nude in the closet of an empty house on Knights Station Road in Lakeland on April 22, 2010.  She had been strangled with a white shirt.

Seger was sentenced to the maximum punishment available under the law.
