Occupy Lights Up Orlando

A new wave of activism is lighting up the Orlando skies – well at least the landmark “Orlando Bridge” near Millenia Mall.

The “Occupy Orlando Overpass Light Brigade” has rallied together to continue the mission and work behind the movement in a creative new way with the aim of “dispelling the darkness of ignorance with LED lights and cardboard.”

The action late last week lit up the bridge to say “Occupy ORLANDO Tax the Rich.” It was the first time the group used the word “Occupy” in their LED actions. It appears that is what caught the attention of the Orlando Police Department, who did make a stop that protesters simply called “basic intimidation tactics.” No police report appears to have been made from the incident and the group’s message was broadcast in the dark Orlando night.

Other messages from the Occupy Orlando Light Brigade have included a tax day message and “Legalize It.” Looks like they are just getting started so keep a look out for the next message to illuminate Orlando.
