A New York father is in trouble again with the law after his 8-year-old son sold his 9mm pistol to one of his classmate.
Ignacio Galvan, 56, has been charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.
Galvan, who says that he keeps his guns in his home for protection and is a responsible gun owner, apparently left his firearm where it could be easily retrieved.
Late last month, Galvan’s 8-year-old son, spotted the firearm and thinking it was a toy gun took the weapon to his public school in Queens.
Galvan’s son sold the gun for a princely sum of $3 to a classmate, reports truecrimereport.com.
Needless to say, the mother of the classmate was not too pleased when her son returned home with a firearm.
The mother headed back to the school and the 9mm was traced back to Galvan.
Galvan, who was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon–the serial number was removed–and endangering the welfare of a child, has been released on $3,000 bail. He is due to appear in court on June 3.
