20-Year-Old Man Arrested for Central Florida Shooting

A 20-year-old man was arrested after a Central Florida road rage incident turned into a deadly shooting in Riverview, near Tampa.

Earlier this month, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the corner of Rose Lane and Baytree Drive in Riverview. When deputies arrived, they discovered 34-year-old Bryan Proenza with multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives immediately made contact with the shooter, Jorge Ramirez, who was outside his residence down the street from the incident.

While being transported to the hospital, Proenza succumbed to his injuries.

Ramirez was arrested and charged with three counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. Additional charges may be forthcoming.

“Our hearts break for this family who lost a loved one in the face of senseless violence,” said Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister. “At this time, our detectives are meticulously piecing together the moments that led up to this fatal shooting. While this investigation is active, we urge anyone who might have witnessed the incident to please come forward.”
