Thanks to many generous supporters, Embrace Families surpassed its goal for a “Back-to-School” shoe collection drive and is now distributing more than 1,000 pairs of new shoes to youth in foster care.
The nonprofit – which oversees child welfare services in Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties – knows that starting a new school year can be intimidating for any child, especially those who feel different from their peers with more traditional home lives. This effort helped caregiver families provide for the children and teen in their care; while also giving kids a boost of confidence, and put their best foot forward, as the new school year begins.
The nonprofit wants to thank the community for once again stepping up to help youth in foster care.
Embrace Families believes all kids deserve to grow up in safe, stable and loving homes, and they work to find solutions that put the child’s well-being first. As a recognized national leader in child welfare services, the nonprofit begins by helping Central Florida families overcome the root causes of abuse and neglect through programs that offer case management and other prevention services. They also provide support through foster care, adoption, mentoring and beyond to ensure that children in bad situations move toward brighter futures.
