A $1 million federal grant was awarded to Orlando Sanford International Airport.
The grant will be used to fund a portion of the rehabilitation of the West Terminal corridor, increasing the passenger waiting area, and ADA accommodations.
U.S. Representative Cory Mills was happy after Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) was awarded $1 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
“I was pleased to hear Orlando Sanford International Airport in Florida’s Seventh District was granted $1 million to improve access for disabled individuals and make additional necessary improvements to the West Terminal,” said Republican Rep. Mills. “As someone born and raised in Central Florida, I know Sanford Airport is vital to individuals traveling in the area. I’m glad to know Sanford will be able to make significant improvements that will help passengers with this FAA grant.”
Locally, the funding was welcomed and the airport seems ready to put the money into action.
“This funding will allow us to relieve congestion, improve connectivity, and provide additional passenger seating options in West Terminal,” Nicole Martz, President & CEO of Sanford Airport Authority said. “We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to enhance the passenger experience at our airport and to continue our mission of being ‘Simpler, Faster, Better.’”
