The Orange County Sheriff’s Office School Crossing Guard Unit is responsible for staffing over 450 school crossings in unincorporated Orange County. Without the support of the community some crossings may not be staffed because we do not have a School Crossing Guard hired for each location.
School Crossing Guards who work under contract with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office receive $9.25 an hour and work two hours a day. Sheriff Demings provides state mandated training, retirement benefits, life insurance, fingerprint, background check, medical exam, physical ability test and equipment at no cost to applicants.
