In these tough economic times, it is being reported that diabetics are risking their lives by cutting back on doctor visits, insulin treatment, medicines and blood sugar testing. More and more, patients are ending up in emergency rooms, as doctors’ visits for regular appointment decline. Patients are turning to tax-subsidized or charity care.

The survey, which ranks all 50 states and the District of Columbia based its survey on key financial data, including the number of foreclosures and the unemployment rate.
