On Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 7:00PM, labor and community groups will host an event to educate voters on their rights and the importance of voting.
Recent actions to purge voter rolls by Florida Governor Rick Scott and changes to Florida’s election laws by the Florida Legislature have a disproportional adverse effect on African Americans, Latinos, young voters and women. This event will educate voters on these changes, including how civic groups register people to vote, who is eligible to vote and when people can vote.
Free and open to the public. Participants will be able to register to vote, check their voter status and update their voter record. This event is family friendly and a meal will be served at the conclusion of the educational portion of the event. Assistance will be available in Spanish.
