A high-speed, single-car crash claimed the life of a young female driver on Turkey Lake Road near Sand Lake in Orange County on Thursday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
It happened just after 2:30 a.m.
Troopers said the 22-year-old woman in a 1996 Nissan 300 SX was traveling north on Turkey Lake Road, south of Sand Lake Road at a high rate of speed when she lost control while approaching the first curve and collided with the curb on the east shoulder.
The vehicle went airborne before colliding with a series of trees before it came to rest, troopers said.
The driver, from Haines City, was killed on impact.
Toxicology results are being awaited to determine whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.
The woman’s identity was not released.
