The Orange County Young Democrats are hosting their first Youth Empowerment Series on Thursday, May 24th, at the Pine Hills Community Center, starting at 6:30pm.
The session is geared toward empowering and educating the community regarding the law and politics.
“OCYD is an organization geared toward political activism. We want to educate as many residents within our community as possible,” said Young Dems President Jason Henry.
“After the Trayvon Martin tragedy, it is important that we make sure that our young men and women, especially minorities, are cognizant and mindful of everyday laws that may impact their lives. Our survival depends on it,” he continued.
The Orange County Young Democrats remain politically active in Orange County as they’ve hosted education forums with elected officials and political candidates in the past, such as Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Congressional candidate Val Demings and former Congressman Alan Grayson just to name a few.
