WUCF announced that Julie Sochay has been named the Director of Content. The station is home to 89.9 FM Jazz & More and Central Florida’s PBS channel, which serves as a joint licensee with the University of Central Florida.
Sochay comes to WUCF from a career at WKAR in East Lansing, Michigan, where she served as the Senior Director of Content and Communication.
“I am thrilled to join the talented team at WUCF,” said Sochay. “I plan to bring my passion for storytelling to WUCF and look forward to creating new content opportunities and new collaborations to serve the Central Florida region.”
Julie has spent the last 7.5 years at WKAR where she was a driving force behind much of WKAR’s commitment to their community through engaging and informative local content. In her role with WKAR she created the strategic vision for WKAR’s team of TV producers and directors, communications professionals, education team, programming team, and engagement team. Before WKAR, Sochay spent 17 years at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters serving as the Communications Director and later as Executive Vice President.
“Julie has long been an amazing collaborator to WUCF within the PBS system,” said Jennifer Cook, Executive Director of WUCF. “We know she will help innovate WUCF’s content strategy in a way that aligns well with our vision for WUCF’s future. I can’t wait for the community to get to know and partner with her.”
Sochay’s new role as Director of Content will provide strategic leadership to WUCF and its mission to serve as Central Florida Storyteller. Additionally, she will be responsible for all local and national content across all broadcast, digital and various online platforms.
