One driver is dead and another in critical condition, following a head on crash on SR 417 near University Boulevard in Orange County, early on Thursday morning.
Troopers said, a man driving a 1999 Oldsmobile was heading southbound in the northbound lanes of State Road 417 when he crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by Angela Heine, 44, of Orlando. Heine, traveling north on SR 417 in the left lane just before 4:00 am, was driving a 2002 Volkswagen.
The 31-year-old Titusville driver of the Oldsmobile, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He was not wearing a seat-belt.
Heine who was critically injured, was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center. She was wearing a seat-belt.
Troopers are awaiting toxicology results of the deceased to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
FHP said, the crash remains under investigation.
