On Saturday, March 9, Orlando Harley-Davidson hosted a pair of events benefiting Operation Giveback (OGB) for Wounded Warriors Inc. to honor the heroic sacrifice of America’s veterans and their families. The motorcycle convoy traveled from the Orlando Harley-Davidson South Dealership on US192 in Kissimmee to the Orlando Harley-Davidson Historic Factory Dealership, located at 3770 37th Street. More than 350 riders took part in the charitable police-escorted ride and after-party.
OGB is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps members of the U.S. military – and their family members – who have been wounded in action by recognizing that they have served our country with pride, distinction, and honor.
“We are honored to join with Operation Giveback in an effort to help veterans and their families. Throughout Harley-Davidson history, helping veterans and their families has been a top priority,” said Anne Deli, President of Orlando Harley-Davidson. “We were happy to provide motorcycle enthusiasts with an opportunity to support OGB by raising awareness for this worthy cause. It was a fun and meaningful day!”
Orlando Harley-Davidson also donated a custom painted 2013 Harley-Davidson® Street Glide® <http://orlandoharley.com/touring-street-glide.aspx> , valued at $19,800, which is currently being raffled off to help those who have bravely served from Central Florida. With only 400 raffle tickets available at a $100 charitable donation per entry, Harley lovers who dream of owning a one-of-a-kind model have a good chance at winning. At today’s after-party, the Street Glide was unveiled and tickets officially went on sale to the public. The lucky winner of the motorcycle will be announced on May 11 at the 3rd Annual Operation Giveback 5K/10K/15K Run.Walk.Roll and Warrior Kids Race. <http://www.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1048970> .
Operation Giveback Founder Jose Garcia-Aponte, retired Command Sergeant Major who served 29 years in the army, said “My idea to develop Operation Giveback was my way of giving back to the community. The army wasn’t a job to me; it was living my dream. I have a passion for the military. This ride provided an opportunity to bring riders from around Florida to support our important cause. We’ve helped many veterans and their families today, and proceeds from the bike raffle can only add to our success today. Thank you to all involved!”
This event is supported by the following partners: the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, and the Kissimmee Police Department.
