Working Families Say “Bring Jobs Home”

As working families across Florida celebrate the Fourth of July and the vision of the Founding Fathers, they will also call on elected officials to create good jobs and rebuild local communities hit hard by the recession. Among other things, we must end the ability of U.S. corporations to defer paying taxes on their offshore profits, which acts as an incentive to export good jobs overseas, and support legislation to stop currency manipulation by our trading partners, which also leads to offshoring.

The Bring Jobs Home Act—a bill that would stop companies from taking a tax deduction for moving expenses when they ship jobs overseas—is one piece of legislation that congressional leaders can immediately act on as a first step in a comprehensive plan to end incentives for offshoring. The U.S. Senate is set to vote on the Bring Jobs Home Act after the July 4 congressional recess.
