A woman who died after a canoe appeared to have capsized on Saturday afternoon on a lake in east Orange County, has been named.
The body of Shelly Stirman, 22, a white female, was recovered from Lake Pickett shortly before noon on Saturday, officials said. Her body was turned over to the Medical Examiner.
Two other persons who were with Stirman were rescued. They are Brian Farina, 22, and Vincent Farina, 25, both white males.
A witness told investigators that screams for help were heard from three people out on the lake. Shortly after, 911 was dialed.
Marine Patrol and Orange County Dive team members worked on Saturday and again on Sunday, to mark and recover debris and the canoe.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Stirman’s drowning is continuing.
