At approximately 11:37 AM today the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 telephone call from a woman who was being attacked by a man with a knife. Deputies found the badly injured victim outside a home on the 1900 block of Garwood Drive with multiple stab and cut wounds. Paramedics from Orange County Fire Rescue treated the victim on the scene and transported her to ORMC via their Firestar EMS helicopter.
Investigators have determined that the victim agreed to drive her former roommate to a home near the stabbing scene so he could pick up money someone owed him. The suspect went inside a home near the scene for several minutes, returned to the victim’s Geo Metro with a gun and knife, told her he was going to kill her, and then violently attacked her. During the brutal struggle the victim was forced to the back seat of her vehicle as the suspect continued to attack her with the knife. The victim received numerous cuts and stab wounds during the struggle.
At some point during the attack the suspect dragged the victim out of her car by her hair and continued to assault her. A passerby drove by and saw the altercation. When he got out of his car to intervene the suspect fled into a wooded area and, at this time, remains at large despite. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, medium complexion, 5’ 5” tall, 120 lbs., black hair and green eyes. At the time of the assault he was wearing a black sweater and black pants and reported to be armed with a knife and handgun.
Investigators are currently working active leads in this case and continue their search for the known suspect. The exact condition of the victim is unknown at this time beyond the fact that she was stabbed and cut multiple times.
