A Papa John’s franchise in New York, ended up apologizing to an Asian customer and firing one of its employees, after the woman complained that on her receipt were the words, “Lady Chinky Eyes.”
Minhee Cho ordered a pepperoni pie last Friday night, then noticed the racial slur on the receipt, mediaite.com reports. She promptly sent Papa John’s a tweet with a photo of the receipt.
Here’s how Papa John’s responded:
“We were extremely concerned to learn of the receipt issue in New York. This act goes against our company values, and we’ve confirmed with the franchisee that this matter was addressed immediately and that the employee is being terminated. We are truly sorry for this customer’s experience.”
