A woman lying in the roadway of US 441 south of 41st Street in Orange County was struck and killed by a hit and run driver early on Wednesday morning, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.
A vehicle, described as a darker color SUV, heading south on US 441 near 41st Street, struck and killed an adult female pedestrian lying in the center lane of the southbound lanes of US 441, around 12:40 am, on Wednesday.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene by Orange County Fire Rescue.
Troopers said that the identity of the pedestrian is unknown at this time and it is not clear whether alcohol played a role in this fatality.
Meanwhile, the vehicle that struck the woman fled the scene and is described by witnesses as a darker color SUV.
FHP said that the crash remains under investigation.
