Woman Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on Florida Turnpike

A Kissimmee woman was killed early this morning on the Florida Turnpike, after the vehicle she was driving overturned several times.

Troopers say, the 31-year-old woman was heading southbound on the Florida Turnpike in the area of US 441/South Orange Blossom Trail and the State Road 528 interchange.

For reasons unknown, the unnamed driver swerved into the paved median and over-corrected, losing control of the 2003 Ford Explorer she was driving. The vehicle rotated and overturned multiple times, troopers said. Although the woman was wearing a seatbelt, the driver’s door was peeled off by the roadway, resulting in the woman being partially ejected. She was pronounced dead on the scene by the medial examiner.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the crash which occurred just before 4:00 a.m., on Tuesday.

The name of the deceased has not been released.
