Troopers are investigating a crash on Monday night in Orange County that killed a woman and left another critically injured.
The accident happened on U.S. 441 and Landstreet Road around 11:30 p.m.
Troopers say, Nelson Diaz, 55, of Orlando, was heading southbound on US-441 approaching the intersection of Landstreet Road when Ada Burgos Vazquez, 53, and another woman were in the center median on US-441, not in a crosswalk.
Burgos Vazquez and the unnamed woman attempted to run across the southbound lanes and ran into the direct path of the 2001 Ford vehicle Diaz was driving. Both women were struck.
Burgos Vazquez was pronounced at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
The unnamed 45-year-old woman who sustained critical injuries, was also taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center.
It is not clear whether alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
