Winter Park History Museum to unveil new railroad exhibit

WinterPark2The Winter Park History Museum is proud to unveil its latest exhibition, Whistle in the Distance, the Trains of Winter Park, and will be hosting a grand opening party on Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and will take place at the Winter Park History Museum and Farmer’s Market, located at 200 W. New England Avenue, Winter Park, FL 32789.

Whistle in the Distance, the Trains of Winter Park, celebrates the railroad’s enormous significance to our town,” says Susan Skolfield, Executive Director of the Winter Park History Museum. “The railroad was the essential element in our town’s development. The tracks were laid, then our village was carefully crafted around them. The train’s whistle is the sound of life in Winter Park.”

The grand opening party will be themed around train travel through the years. Lite bites, wine and refreshments will be served. Whole Foods, YumYum Cupcakes and Sassafras Sweet Shoppe are among those in-kind sponsors who will be providing hors d’oeuvres and a decadent selection of sweets and treats.

This is a free event open to the public and will include family-friendly activities. Sponsorship opportunities, along with in-kind food and wine are still available. To RSVP for the event, please call the WPHM office at (407) 647-2330 or email [email protected].
