RLF/TranSystems, LLC – a professional services consulting firm focused on architecture, engineering, security consulting, strategic planning and management – recently announced it was awarded a $15 million, five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic Division.
NAVFAC is the United States Navy’s engineering command, committed to the Navy and Marine Corps combat readiness. The command has an annual business volume in excess of $8 billion, and manages the planning, design, construction and public works support for Navy shore facilities around the world.
As part of the multi-award contact, RLF/TranSystems, LLC was given the following design task orders:
· A 12,900 square-foot Unmanned Aircraft System Satellite Communications (UAS SATCOM) relay facility at Naval Air Station Sigonella in Sicily, Italy. The facility provides space for squadron operations, administration and maintenance functions and includes site work for 12 UAS SATCOM relay structural pads and foundations with access roads, utilities and underground conduit connectivity to the main facility. The facility will be designed to LEED Gold certification, and its estimated cost of construction is $12.7 million. The contract will use a design-bid-build delivery method. The expected design completion date is winter 2011.
· A 89,240 square-foot, four-story unaccompanied enlisted personnel housing barracks facility at Camp Ederle, a United States Army Garrison, in Vicenza, Italy. The facility will be designed to LEED Silver certification, and its estimated construction cost is $29 million. The contract’s expected completion date is fall 2012.
· A community activity center and related buildings located at United States Aviano Air Force Base in northern Italy. This project will include the demolition of two existing facilities, the design of a 5,000-square-foof post office addition and a 30,000-square-foot, two-story community activity center. The facility will be designed to LEED Silver certification, and its estimated construction cost is $12 million. The contract will use a design-bid-build delivery method. The design completion date is scheduled for fall 2013.
