Nancy DeVault was named editor of Orlando Family Magazine, a monthly publication based in Central Florida. She is charged with the development of print and website editorial content, in addition to aspects of design, marketing and social media. Prior to this role, DeVault was a writer and photojournalist for the magazine and freelance contributor to other media outlets.
Orlando Family Magazine is a free, trusted resource designed to inform, serve and enrich local families and parents throughout the Greater Orlando area with parenting ideas, fun family activities and a wide variety of invaluable resource guides. Most of the articles are locally angled to provide readers with useful information to help raise healthy, well-adjusted children.
“I am honored to be able to present families within our community with positive, uplifting content,” said DeVault, a Winter Garden resident. “Orlando Family Magazine will continue to offer editorial features on a range of topics that are on the minds of today’s parents.”
DeVault started her media career working at local television and radio outlets before following her heart into the non-profit sector. As Director of Communications for the American Heart Association, DeVault represented a voice which served so many impacted by cardiovascular diseases (leading killers among Americans). Her approach was unique in sidelining traditional scare tactics surrounding health messaging to instead empower consumers through motivational messages and prevention tools. In 2011, she founded DeVault Communications LLC, a public relations firm specializing in media relations and strategic planning.
DeVault serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) with a focus to enhance this professional field and mentor students studying PR and journalism.
