New Windermere Police Chief Mike McCoy has his very hands full, as he might just have to investigate what led to the city’s mayor being punched to the floor by the husband of the Town Manager at a meeting on Tuesday night.
According to news reports, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn was shoved by Roland Bernier, husband of the Town Manager Cecilia Bernier, causing him to crash into a table.
Bruhn had just made a 20-minute speech calling for the resignation of Mrs. Bernier, indicating she had brought disrepute to the city’s reputation by hiring former Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor, who was arrested and fired earlier this year for hindering a FDLE investigation on one of his friends, concerning rape against a minor.
After the altercation, Bruhn, who was unconscious, was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.  Bruhn’s current condition is unknown.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernier were taken to the Windermere Police Station, reports wtsp.com. It is unclear if charges will be filed.
