Wild Car Chase Leads to One Arrest

A man who rammed a stolen car into a deputy’s vehicle at a BP gas station on the corner of Powers and Colonial Drive, then led officers on a wild car chase through the streets early on Thursday morning has been arrested.   The suspect, who has an extensive criminal record was captured by deputies but not before he crashed into a security gate in his attempt to elude officers.

David P. Osczepinski

According to OCSO:

At approximately 4:00 am on June 3, Orange  County deputies ran the tag of a Chevrolet Malibu at the BP station at the corner of Powers and Colonial Drive.  No one was in the car, and the plate came back stolen. Deputies waited and at some point a white male came to vehicle and made an attempt to enter it.  Deputies tactically backed the vehicle in and issued verbal commands to the individual which were ignored.  Deputies say the suspect got in the car and rammed one of the deputy vehicles causing the deputy’s car door to strike the deputy.  The deputy then fired at the suspect but did not hit him.  The suspect was able to get out of the parking lot and fled first south on Powers, then east on Old Winter Garden, then south on Kirkman with deputies in pursuit.

The suspect’s chosen route led him unto the property of Lockheed Martin.  He crashed through a security gate nearly injuring a security guard, and eventually crashed into a ditch.  He then fled on foot into the parking lot and was eventually apprehended by deputies.
