Who said that the Great Recession was over?
New food stamp data shows, more and more Americans are turning to food stamps. In June, the monthly food stamp data revealed that, the number of households receiving food stamps rose to 23.117 million, an increase of 45.k in one month and a new record high.
In June, at the individual level, an additional 125,059 Americans started using food stamps, that is, entered poverty. However, unlike at the household level, the increase to 47.8 million was not a record high. It missed that particular record, set in December 2012, by 31,771.
And just to give you some perspective, there are more Americans on food stamps than the entire population of Spain.
