Whitney Houston, American singer, actress, producer and a former model, has died. The cause of death is unknown.
Perhaps the most awarded female act of all time, Houston has among her many honors, 2 Emmy Awards, 6 Grammy Awards, 30 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards, among a total of 415 career awards as of 2010. She was also one of the world’s best-selling music artists, having sold over 170 million albums and singles worldwide.
As of 2011, Houston had released seven studio albums and three movie soundtrack albums, all of which have diamond, multi-platinum, platinum, or gold certification.
According to TMZ, paramedics were called to the Beverly Hilton, a luxury hotel in Beverly Hills, when Houston was found unresponsive in her hotel room. TMZ also reports that, paramedics performed CPR, but Houston did not respond and was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
For years, Houston struggled with drug addiction. She is survived by her daughter, Bobbi Kristina and ex-husband Bobby Brown.
