West Unwittingly Praises Government-Run Industries (Video)

Florida  Congressman, Allen West (R-FL) and Tea Party wingnut, who repeatedly told Floridians during his campaign that government is too large and the federal stimulus failed to produce jobs, earlier this week, praised two-government run industries, Fort Lauderdale Airport and Port Everglades, for helping to “turn around” his district’s economy, reports thinkprogress.org.

Apparently oblivious to what he was saying, West, in an interview explains that the Fort Lauderdale Airport with its plans to build a new runway will bring in much needed jobs and revenue.  West also praised the “world’s largest cruise port.”

Well, both the Fort Lauderdale Airport and the Port Everglades seaport are run by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners.

Moreover, the airport received $5.6 million in stimulus funds under the Recovery Act to help with renovation and Port Everglades received $190,000 as part of a Department of Homeland Security grant, notes thinkprogress.org.
