Mr. Obama’s speech will focus on ‘Women and the Economy’ and in particular, on expanding economic opportunities for women and working families, to ensure that the U.S. remains competitive in the 21st Century.
Although there is greater workplace equality between men and women than 20 to 30 years ago, the gender pay gap remains. And, it’s still easier for men to get top executive jobs than it is for women.
According to a recent report by the American Association of University Women (AAUW), in the U.S., women are paid 23 percent less than men on average.
