Tampa-based WellCare Health Plans, a major player in Florida’s Medicaid system, announced Tuesday that it has reached agreement to buy a Missouri health plan that serves about 100,000 Medicaid beneficiaries.
WellCare did not release financial details of its purchase of Missouri Care, Inc., a subsidiary of Aetna, Inc.
Missouri Care operates in 54 counties in the state, WellCare said in a news release.
WellCare, which also does business in other states, focuses on serving people in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.
