Watch: Dr. King’s Little-Known 1967 “The Other America” Speech Could Be Delivered In 2015

In this hardly-known speech delivered at Stanford on April 14, 1967, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. discusses the two Americas which exist – one which is prosperous for millions of Americans and the other where millions live in poverty.

“[…] This America is overflowing with the milk of prosperity and the honey of opportunity…. where millions of people experience everyday the opportunity of having life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in all of their dimensions.

“But tragically and unfortunately there is another America. This other America has a bare ugliness about it that constantly transforms the buoyancy of hope into the fatigue of despair. In this America people are poor by the millions. They find themselves perishing on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity,” said Dr. King.

Watch the video above to see what Dr. King has to say about equality, racism, riots, fair housing and much more.
